The waste man chronicles.
There are waste men from Harlesden to Hargesia even if there was life on the moon I can assure you that there would be waste aliens. There needs to be an encyclopaedia on avoiding this specific specimen. Before I start I would like to state that the number of good men exceeds ‘waste men’ I repeat good men out number waste men. If you do not agree then the chances are that it is you who is the useless individual, and the calibre of men in your milieu are reflection of this fact.
Good Somali men do not get the acknowledgement they deserve because the so called waste men’s misdeeds are of such magnitude that shadow their fine endeavours. Before I proceed let me state what I associate with a waste man, do email me if you beg to differ.
Chewing. This is something that our forefathers would do to socialise because of the lack of opportunities our mother land had. However, young Somali guys who have been bought up in a more economically developed country and have endless opportunities to make something of themselves they choice to indulge in chewing. I do not know if they are lacking common sense or genuinely do not see the harm it causes and the broken families that occur because of this.
Night life lover: This type of guy is the one that his face is recognisable even if he was in a car and the car was speeding off; Due to the fact that he is everywhere and known by many different people personally and not personally. If a guy does not prioritise his life according to his best interest then unfortunately he falls under this category.
I only speak slang: If every other word that passes through his voice box is a slang word he also fits in this category. I myself hardly understand what the context of the conversation was let alone the topic. So imagine this guy going for a job interview?
Living to die: By this I mean a guy that lacks ambition that does not have goals for himself in this life and the hereafter. Each day should be a blessing from Allah SWT so if he choices to fulfil his time with meaningless activities that will not benefit him then he fits into this category.
I can go on and on, but they sure are the main ones. Unfortunately waste men’s can be difficult to spot because they are complex specimens. So ladies carry yourselves like a queen and you’ll attract a king and not a waste man.

Suad Ahmed i do agree with you to a certain degree but you got to understand that if a man only speaks slang it doesn’t mean he is a waste man. People grow different and not every one speaks the queens language.
okay fair enough he will find difficulties getting a job because of his slang which becomes a barrier. But what if he has other qualities, what if he is a person who is on his deen?. Will you call him as a waste man?.
I think people need to carefully consider on what to categorize a waste man.
i also forgot to mention that i personally consider a waste man as the following:
1. Does nothing but sits on his lazy back
2. wastes money on bad habits (ect drugs, alcohol)
3. one that is not on his deen
Nice aricle loved it. @unknown I know that what you said was not addressed at me but, I would Like to share my view on this matter. By saying what I am about to say may get on some nipples; It seems guys as suad said that speak slang and so forth are wasteman is true because all the other aspects of your like is a disgrace does not mean you can say ”well I pray 5 times a day but I have no job sit in shisha places fridays nights or sat” that bullshit guys need to stop using the deen as a scapegoat and realize they are waste men and fix the matter. I have also witnessed drug dealers who are now on the right path mashallah I must say but they have no education will not get a good job because of their past history who have messed up big time I still see this as a wastemen. peace n bariis.
